3 Professional video cameras:
We've really got two issues here - the quality of the video cameras and the quantity.
We use professional Canon A1 hi-def video cameras and a shoulder-mounted Canon H1A hi-def video camera. These are widely regarded as the best-suited video cameras for hi-def wedding videography, and for good reason. Weddings are low-light affairs. It may not seem low-light to you, but compared to the average studio with its bright halogen lights, the average church, chapel and reception hall is very dim.
Shooting in hi-definition video will future-proof your cherished wedding video. Think of how bad those old VHS wedding videos look today. That is probably how people, in the future, will feel about standard video on DVD.
Standard video cameras produce widescreen videos that look particularly bad because the camera can't use all of its CCD pixels when shooting widescreen, so be sure your videographers use professional hi-definition cameras!
Why 3 video cameras?
The obvious answer is that they give us more opportunity to catch those priceless moments that could easily be missed with fewer video cameras.
Also, and perhaps without realizing it, you've become accustomed to watching TV and movies that were shot with multiple camcorders (three, four or more) and then edited so that the views switch artfully. Viewing a one or two camcorder wedding video would likely put a sophisticated TV watcher to sleep after a few times. By having a video camera at the rear, one on the groom's side and one on the bride's side of the ceremony, we're guaranteed to deliver the finest possible coverage of your wedding ceremony. Multiple video cameras make your reception video much more watchable also.
